
Born in 1965 in Nakuru, Kenya, Ian gained an early introduction to Africa and its wilderness. He grew up in Zimbabwe where most of his free time was spent in the bush.
After leaving school, Ian completed a university degree in International Relations and Languages in South Africa.
In 1990, he began working in the safari industry in Zimbabwe, initially as a trainee guide and then receiving his guides license in 1993.
Ian then worked in Zambia and Malawi with Central African Wilderness Safaris conducting wilderness trails and walking safaris.
In 1995, Ian moved to Arusha and joined Ker & Downey where he initially worked as a camp manager and then as a Professional Guide. Ian guides a number of specialized photographic safaris each year.
